On This Day – February 27th

Wooden Bridge

I was hoping that winter was behind us, but a couple of storms are predicted this week. I’m ready for Spring, winter had overstayed its welcome. I have a few photos taken “On This Day” in 2016, 2015 and 2010. Have a look.

Feb 27, 2016 – LaSalle

There was little snow cover on this date, so I decided to do a little hiking at Beaver Brook Reservation in Hollis. I’m not a fan of walking on icy trails. On the ride over I passed a auto restoration business and stopped to take some photos.

The LaSalle was manufactured by General Motors. It was a cheaper luxury car than the Cadillac. This one seemed to be in fairly good shape.

Feb 27, 2016 – Beaver Brook Association

The Beaver Brook Association is located in Hollis, NH. There are 35 miles of trails. I chose a short walk around a beaver pond. Nice to walk off season without being bothered by bugs. The pond was frozen but the trails were clear of ice.

Feb 27, 2016 – Lull Farm

After my hike I wanted to take a few more photos. I headed over to the Lull Farm orchard. Thoughts of Spring were on my mind.

Feb 27, 2016 – Gardner Music Jam

This was one busy day for me. In the evening I headed over to Saint Paul’s Church in Gardner Mass to pick some tunes with Fred, Pam and other folks.

Feb 27, 2015

In 2015 my dear friend Lynda Swenson underwent surgery for brain cancer. The surgery was successful and gave her seven cancer-free years. Sadly the cancer returned and claimed her life in 2021. This photo is of Lynda surrounded by her family. It was taken at a benefit dinner and auction to raise funds for her medical expenses.

Bill Tobin, Lynda’s brother in law was the auctioneer at the dinner. Bill was also the auctioneer for many years at the New Ipswich Children’s Fair.

Feb 27, 2010

There was a lot more snow on the ground on this day in 2010. We were collecting maple sap with the idea of creating our own maple syrup. It takes a lot of sap to make syrup.
