December 3, 2023 (Sunday)
I visited my mom on this day. She had asked me to set up a model train under her Christmas tree. After 40 years of storage, it still worked. The plans were to set up the train, have lunch and visit the New Boston Rail Trail. Unfortunately the Rail Trail idea was scrubbed. because it was raining and quite chilly. Late fall is not an attractive time of year, the leaves are gone as well as most of the sunshine.
Lunch was nice, tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. We sang Happy Birthday to Mom’s caretaker Gale. My nephew Jesse and grand nephew Alex were there. Jesse had a chance to show off his latest acquisitions of guns from auctions. Also in attendance was Jesse’s ex-wife Stephanie and her daughter Madeline. Madeline demonstrated some dance moves as well as becoming the engineer of the train running around the Christmas tree.
And Snow
When I left for home the cold rain was changing into a wet snow. By the time I go home it was beginning to accumulate. New Ipswich has an elevation of 1000 feet which seems to be the rain/snow transition point. I’m purchasing winter tires this week. Oil delivery was yesterday. Winter is expensive.
Daily Picture Theme – #Taste
I participate in a daily picture challenge on the social media site Spoutible. Everyday there is a different subject announced as a Daily Picture Theme. I select an appropriate photo from my collection to share. I have been sharing these exclusively on Improves With Age, my Substack newsletter. However since I have untaken the task of writing daily entries, I decided to introduce a daily picture theme photo to this website.
The theme for December 3, 2023 was #Taste. I have a couple of favorite photos in the archives that capture this theme.
