The Green Center – As Seen on TV

Clap It On! – Clap It Off!

The Clapper
The Clapper

I remember the advertisement on TV. A woman lying in bed claps her hands to turn off the light. There is a catchy jingle in the advertisement punctuated with the sound of clapping hands. This technological marvel appeared at the Green Center. It is somewhat obsolete since our smart phones have Siri and Alexa to control our lighting. In the future our lights and television will be controlled by Artificial Intelligence which will decide WHEN the lights should be turned off and WHEN we’ve watched too much TV.

Tomato Planter Plus

Upside down tomato planter

This might work for some people but it would seem that a bag of soil and a full load of tomatoes is going to be very heavy. The plastic bag looks a little flimsy. You would need an industrial hook to hold it and watering might be an issue. If this is your preferred way of growing tomatoes, please leave a comment.

EZCracker

EZ Cracker

All of know how difficult it is to crack an egg. We also welcome the opportunity to have to own another gizmo that needs to be washed after use. In its defense, it can separate the yolk from the egg white. It too was SEEN ON TV.

Batter Pro

As Seen on TV

I add seasoning to chicken legs by placing them in a plastic zip-lock bag and shaking it. I do that because I didn’t take this Batter Pro home. It is endorsed by Chef Reece Williams, inventor of the cajun seasoning injector. This may useful for wet batters for shrimp and onions. Apparently the wet batter is mixed in the lower half. Note the red lid has holes. A cover fits over that and it is inverted, allowing the batter to drip through the holes. One more item to wash. Note the Bonus knife, that looks a tad dangerous.

Vidalia Chop Wizard

Green Center

I suppose you could chop up an onion with a knife, but what fun is that? Especially when there is a dedicated tool to do the job. It even comes with a lid cleaning tool. From the picture on the box it appears to work with other vegetables. I suppose that after use, this may yet another item to wash. Cooking is so much fun if you have the right tools.

Rotato

Rotato

One can never have too many indispensable kitchen tools. This unit with the clever name of ROTATO can peel potatoes and presumably any other vegetable and fruit. I wonder if it would work on grapes? It comes with a blemish remover and built in storage compartment.
