Good morning readers, it’s another snowy day in New Ipswich. I’ve been reviewing photos taken on this day which is a bit like stepping into a time machine. However this time machine is limited to photographs that have an accurate date stamp. Much of the analog photography will not be included. I’ll save that for another project. We’ll start with a meal.
Feb 2019 – Mexican Casserole
I love my instant pot. It is actually an appliance I use on a regular basis, unlike the blender that collect dust on a shelf. This was a recipe I found online which was fairly easy to make since most of the instant pot recipes can be made in a single pot. As the chief cook and bottle washer, I’m a fan of easy cleanup.
Feb 28 2017 – This is for the birds
On a visit to my friends who live by the Souhegan river, I saw a pair of Common mergansers. I wish I was able to get a better photo but there was a lot of brush in the way. They are beautiful birds.
More common are Canada geese, not Canadian geese. Canada geese that live in Canada are Canadian Canada geese. Got that? Confused me too.
My friends had quite a few Guinea Fowl. These are strange looking birds that make a lot of noise. They eat ticks, how great is that?
Feb 28, 2016 – Mason Hollow Nursery
On this day I felt the need to escape Winter by visiting my friends at Mason Hollow Nursery. Looking at orchids and carnivorous plants is a great way to beat the winter blues.
Carnivorous plants too, such as this sundew.
Feb 28, 2015 – Angelika the Baker
There is a fiddle tune named Angeline the Baker, but this photo shows the baking skills of Angelika the baker.
Feb 28, 2010 – Maple syrup project
Sisters Lynda Swenson and Faith Tobin collecting maple sap to boil into maple syrup.
After HOURS of boiling and canisters of propane a small amount of maple syrup was produced. There is a reason the pros use reverse osmosis.
Feb 28, 2005 – Adeline Poltrack
On this day we laid our Aunt Adeline to rest. She served in the Navy in WWII. I’ve written about her in other postings on this website.
Thank you
Thank you for making it to the bottom of this post. A trip back in time. Hope to see you again.
