Coronavirus Diaries – Senior Grocery Shopping

6-Foot Rule

Our local supermarkets have instituted “senior shopping hours” during the Coronavirus pandemic. When  we arrived at 6:30 AM we were surprised to see a packed parking lot. Some of the shoppers had gloves and surgical masks.

Who is buying all the toilet paper?

The Novel Coronavirus causes the respiratory illness named COVID-19. It affects the lungs not the GI tract. I have no idea why everyone thinks they need to buy pallets of toilet paper. There are YouTube videos of people fighting over toilet paper like something out of a Mad Max movie. Spring has arrived, I am going to find some appropriate mullein leaves or sphagnum moss for my sanitary needs.

No soup for you!

Besides toilet paper and hand sanitizer, I noticed that supermarkets have a shortage of canned soup. My mom likes the  Progresso brand, so I’ve been on a quest to pick up her favorites. When that failed I thought I might do better ordering them on Amazon. Such a deal, $15 for a can of soup. Nothing like plague profiteering to make you lose faith in humanity. I left a snarky review for the seller. Karma has a way of biting you when you least expect it, so listen up FasterCheaper. We need to watch over each other. Be well shoppers, stay 6 feet away and wash your hands.
