Coronavirus Pandemic

COVID-19 Pandemic Preparation

The World Health Organization officially designated the Coronavirus a pandemic on March 11, 2020.  This is not an auspicious start to our new decade. President Trump continues to downplay the severity of this crisis, mockingly calling it the Coronaflu. We would better served if he would return to Mar-a-Lago and keep quiet.

Thankfully we have experts such as Immunologist Anthony S. Fauci who can give us real information about protecting ourselves.

No Purell
Empty shelves for Purell hand sanitizer

One sign of the times were the empty shelves of hand sanitizer. I’ve been diligent about washing my hands for 20 seconds while singing Doxology.

I noticed a woman buying a large amount of toilet paper at the market. She explained that she was going to send it to friends in Japan. Apparently there is a world-wide shortage. This prompted me to grab a package.  I can understand no hand sanitizer, but what is with the toilet paper?

When the woman noticed my Vietnam Cap she extended her hand to thank me for my service. I returned a Namaste  greeting which was received with a smile.  “I bow to the Divine in You” without sharing any germs.

Anti-Vaccination Protesters

It will take about two years to develop a vaccine for Coronavirus.  It is a new organism, we have no anti-viral drugs to combat it. We also have no natural immunity because it is NOT THE COMMON INFLUENZA.

I am at risk because I am old, My friends and family are at risk because they are old and many have health issues.

I will get the vaccine when available. I was in the Navy, I even was immunized against every disease on Earth, even the PLAGUE. I get the elder flu shot each year. After having shingles three times, I jumped at the chance for the binary vaccine. I was even in the test group for Salk’s polio vaccine. I was a Polio Pioneer. Polio scared the hell out of us as kids, seeing other kids in iron lungs and not knowing if we were next.

We spend a fortune on weapon systems to “protect the homeland” when the real threat may be a microscopic life form.

Karen Escott

I wonder what became of Karen Escott? Karen sat next to me at Newfield Elementary School in Stamford, CT.  The year was probably 1955 or 1956. Karen was also a Polio Pioneer. I remember her because she asked in which arm did I have the injection. When I told her she punched it . She might have been my first girlfriend. Strange that I can remember this and not find my car keys.

  1. Stephanie has been sick for over a month. She went to the doctor and ER and calls and calls to CDC etc -. They tell her to get tested but nowhere to get tests. So looks like the numbers will show as low, since there is no data to be collected! Her work now has folks working remotely. She did get very good advice from call to nurse. But is she infected and a carrier? Mayor of Boston gave great, thorough description of how Boston communities should behave and restrictions. Too bad “you know who” has NO SKILLS for this!
