The theme for April 30, 2024 is #Drift
I participate in a photography challenge on Spoutible, a social media site, A hashtagged theme is posted each day from the account of Daily Picture Theme which describes itself as “The Big Photo Album of Our Community.” The theme for today is #Drift.
Adrift
I was nine when when we flew across country to visit my grandparents in Bellingham, WA. At that point in my life I enjoyed working on projects. When we visited a lake I decided to lash together some logs and driftwood to make a raft. It could support my weight. I managed to set sail. I don’t think I could swim very well at that point in my life. Even now I can only manage the side stroke, never could master the crawl. It might have been prudent to have a life preserver.
Adrift
During my days at Digital Equipment Corporation my car pool buddy Jon Parker invited us for a weekend at their cottage on Cape Cod. It was a great time. We did some fishing and swimming and staged this photo.
Driftwood
During my Navy years I traveled from San Diego to Washington State. I believe this photo of driftwood was taken on a beach in Oregon.
Snow Drift
Since the picture theme is #drift it seemed appropriate to include at least one photo of a snow drift.
Gear Adrift
This is another remembrance of my Navy Days. I was “written up” for having “gear adrift” and an “unmade rack”. Somehow I was able to continue with my life. I don’t remember any consequences for my transgression.
On This Day – April 30th (2022)
New Boston
On this April 30th in 2022, my cousins visited my mom in New Boston. Lovely weather that day.
What is Carl Toko up to now?
Memorial Day Flags
We need to ask the oft repeated question. Just what is Carl Toko up to now? Carl has been doing what he does every April. Placing flags at the headstones of Veterans at three of of our cemeteries. I helped out a bit at Central and Porter Hill cemetery. Note that we have brand new flags this year. New Ipswich observes Memorial Day a week before the actual holiday (May 19th).
