This is not a robbery. We are only here for some bread and milk. The CDC recommends wearing face coverings in public areas.
Our friend, an accomplished seamstress created some masks for us following the CDC guidelines. I think mine is quite fashionable.
My wife and I do our grocery shopping as a team, each concentrating on different items. The goal is to be fast and efficient. We are taking advantage of the special hours reserved for the over-60 crowd. I was happy to see that a number of the other shoppers were wearing masks.
The masks minimize the chance that an asymptomatic individual will transmit the virus through speaking or coughing. I find wearing it made reminded me of keeping a social distance from other people.
We usually do weekly shopping for groceries but on this outing we doubled up with what we hope will last 2 weeks. I even found some toilet paper.
Hopefully the cat food will last two weeks. I was pleased to see that the store had installed a plastic protector shield for the cashier.Â
The New Normal
Everything has changed. I learned about exponential functions in school but I never thought I would see it in this context. Suddenly we have these new phrases such as “flatten the curve”, “shedding viruses” and “social (physical) distancing”. It is a scary time. Follow the guidelines and lets slow this thing down and save lives.
