Lights for Liberty Vigil - Peterborough, NH

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of exiles. From her beacon-hand

I attended a Lights for Liberty Vigil in Peterborough, NH on Friday July 12th, 2019. It was part of a world-wide protest the family separation policies and inhumane conditions inflicted on migrants.

The Event

Eight women joined together to organize the Lights for Liberty Vigil in Peterborough. They were joined by speakers Eva Castillo, Mohammed Saleh, Marjorie Margolis, Alejandro Urrutia and more. Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke gave a first hand account of visiting a detention facility.
