The Green Center will be closed until January 5th 2019. It was a busy year with all types of odd donations and plenty of laughs. I had the opportunity of celebrating my birthday with our wonderful volunteers as we marked our 9th year of recycling.

Christmas is a time to reflect on on the previous year as we return to the light of longer days. We think of those who we lost during the year. There is a sadness to the Season which is made worse with ridiculous songs such as It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. For people who have lost someone, that is not necessarily so. In early January we’ll see tributes to everyone that died in 2018.

We lost Ethel Frates to cancer in 2017. I think of her every Christmas because she outdid all of the Green Center volunteers in getting into the spirit of the season. Halloween and Christmas were her specialties and she would arrive in the appropriate costume.

May your time with your family and friends be joyous. See you in 2019.
