Deja Vu

The New Ipswich 934
I voted with 933 of my fellow citizens for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Unfortunately the other 2332 voters picked the other candidate. I am definitely in the minority. The margins were tighter across the rest of the nation, but results are conclusive. The former guy won both the electoral and popular vote. I have no earthly idea why anyone thought he should return but it was the choice of the majority. The “lamestream press” and the pundits are droning on for the reasons for the defeat, not acknowledging their own complicity in sanewashing the guy. Thankfully I subscribe to a number of well written substack newsletters that offer some real analysis such as the one from Robert B, Hubbell which I have included in this posting:

Election Day
It was busy on Election Day in New Ipswich, but I hit a lull and was in and out in just few minutes. Sean and Michael greeted me. Afterwards I met with the Far Outers, my mens group. Lunch outside on a beautiful day. We discussed our prostate issues and tried to predict the outcome of the election. The next time we meet the topic will probably be the results of the election.
It’s for the Birds
It is still warm enough to watch the birds and I was amused with this chickadee’s reaction to a pile of peanuts.
Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow)
I’ve been having some fun playing guitar using the app Chordify. It is a clever piece of software that analyzes YouTube music videos and produces a running display of the chord changes. I cannot read music and rely on song sheets with chord notations. The problem with these is that the chord changes are usually in the wrong location. I can usually “hear” where the change is supposed to occur but it is nice to get a visual cue, especially on instrumental tunes.
When in pain I often turn to John Prine. Good tune for my post-election funk.
The Dahlias and Cannas have been killed by the frost. I dug up the tubers and brought them into the cellar where I will pack them in wood shavings. They would not survive the New Hampshire winters. Next year I think I’ll be planting them in large planters instead of the ground.

Can we talk?
I have removed AdSense advertising from my site. The ads were annoying and cluttered up the page. However it does cost money (and time) to publish this website. If you enjoy the content, why not become a supporter? Think of it as buying me a “virtual cup of coffee”. FYI the average cost of a cup of coffee in 2024 is $3.08.
