Is it really October?

Autumn on Temple Road, New Ipswich, NH

We got our first killing frost on October 17th and it was probably more of a wounding frost since most of my dalias still have some green leaves. I took in my houseplants the day before and they are in the garage and cellar till I can decide where they should be in the house. I have so many plant that this is a major operation. Every year they get bigger and heavier especially the cacti.

I made an effort to find the comet. Driving around looking for a wisp in the sky. A complete bust. Everywhere I went was too bright or had obstructed views. I’ll just have to wait 80,000 years till it comes back.

After a few days of cooler temperatures it warm up again. It was a summer-like day on Saturday and we had lunch at Ray’s Seafood in Rye, NH. I took some fall photos.

Urge for Going

I’ve been having some fun playing guitar using the app Chordify. It is a clever piece of software that analyzes YouTube music videos and produces a running display of the chord changes. I cannot read music and rely on song sheets with chord notations. The problem with these is that the chord changes are usually in the wrong location. I can usually “hear” where the change is supposed to occur but it is nice to get a visual cue, especially on instrumental tunes.

I was introduced to this Joni Mitchell song via a Tom Rush album I bought in the early 1960s. It was years later that I would find her recording. It is one of my all time favorites and the perfect song tor this time of year.
