November 16, 2023 (Thursday)

Lovely weather today. It was 37 degrees in the early morning but quickly warmed up. Thursday is my combo day, Tai Chi followed by Yoga. Lots of stretching and spine work. I’m trying to undo years of being like Eeyore with my head hanging down. The goal is to maintain balance by standing straight with all the weight centered. It is not as easy as one might think.

Welcome to the DubHub

The Dublin Community Center serves a free lunch on the third Thursday of the Month which happened to be today. They served a delicious vegetable soup with sausage. Cookies too!

Carl Toko accompanied me and we had a pleasant conversation with other seniors. The DubHub is a popular place as evidenced by this comment on the tablecloth.

Daily Picture Theme – Letter

I participate in a daily photo challenge on the social media site Spoutible. Everyday there is a different subject announced as a Daily Picture Theme. I select an appropriate  photo from my collection to share. I have been sharing these exclusively on Improves With Age, my Substack newsletter. However since I have untaken the task of writing daily entries, I decided to introduce a daily picture theme photo to this website.

The theme listed for November 16, 2023 was LETTER. I tried to decide whether to choose a photo of a alphabetical character, a scrabble board or a letter that is sent by mail. I opted for the interpretation that was most personal for me.

The Letter Home

Here I am in 1970 writing a letter home while sitting on my bunk aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard aircraft carrier from somewhere in the South China Sea. Letters were the only means of communication during those years, a lifeline to home and family.
