In June 2010 my friend Lynda Swenson asked me to accompany her on a tour of local gardens in the Monadnock Region. This was an event organized by the Garden Conservancy Open Days. We planned our route and were able to visit five gardens in Peterborough and Hancock, NH. After we explored the orb at the Reeves Baum garden we headed over to the garden of Michael and Betsy Gordon.

The Gordon home was located on a fairly busy street in Peterborough. Michael and Betsy had managed to create private spaces surrounded by plants.

This planting make use of contrasting colors and textures. I was especially interested in this weird plant which had spikes on its large leaves.

Isn’t this a nice place to sit and relax? They did a nice job of creating this space.
