Today marks the one year anniversary of my sister Pat Poltrack’s death. I was trying to articulate what impact that has on the family, but my sister Susan said it best in an email to the family.

Hard to believe on Jan. 9 it will be one year that Pat has been gone. A year of many days of “oh Pat would enjoy hearing this”“This would make Pat laugh”..  “I would like to call Pat to tell her…” She is in our hearts.  Happy New Year. Love, Susan

  1. We all take the ordinary for granted. Seems like she didn’t. Beautiful post John. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Yes, but I can relate to that Magnolia tree in the back yard. It was not in bloom when we were there but it looked really healthy with glossy leaves. I bet it was amazing in bloom.

  2. This is a lovely post . John, ever the historian and archivist kept Pat’s journals and writings – I was overwhelmed by them. He is great at teasing out tidbits of memory and insight that can comfort. Thank you.

  3. Yes, Susan! So true. John always has new morsels to share. I love her specifics of gratitude. So well considered, and so Pat. Wish we could still send her an email.
