Humor keeps me sane. Watching Colbert and Kimmel on YouTube is one of my morning rituals. Substack also provides some welcome joy. This was posted this morning. It was just the thing I needed. Brilliant.
Buy Me a Cup of Ko-Fi
I spend entirely too much time posting to social media. I know this and you know this. I blame it on the Tylenol my mother took in pregnancy. However I do try to find ways to make money with my publishing. This is why this webpage is covered with annoying ads.
As an alternative to advertising, I also stoop to outright begging for donations. I try to be cute about by asking readers to buy me a cup of coffee. Doesn’t that sound friendly?
A Coffee / Ko-Fi Comparison
I like both of these platforms for quick postings without any bells and whistles. I try to post at least one photo every day, it might be a photo themes or a photo taken on same day but different year. Unlike Substack, readers can make a one time donation instead of committing to a monthly payment and that has actually happened with my Ko-Fi Page. Thank you. So far the Buy Me A Coffee is coming up short.
I did receive one donation on my Buy Me A Coffee page for $5. It came from me. I made the donation to see if would work and I received $5 minus a transaction fee. Not exactly a sustainable model.
So which is better? The Ko-Fi has the cuter icon and I’ve used it for longer but Buy Me a Coffee keeps track of how many people view the page. If there are no readers, there is no reason to do this. As Zuckerberg figured out, it is all about user engagement.

Ha Ha – since Tylenol was introduced in 1955 and you were born in 1946 it is AMAZING that mom had a drug connection for it. She was a woman of many talents for sure!.. Maybe if you take it now it will “erase” the effects? Perhaps RFK Jr can suggest that like drink bleach will erase COVID?
