Tis the Season

We have snow, we have ice, the roads are bad…but the Spring Equinox is only 99 days away. I’m skipping TaiChi today and my Yoga class was cancelled. I’m going to stay inside and finish this journal entry for last week. I try to have these completed on Sunday, but chose to attend the monthly music jam at the Temple Town Hall instead. ASK and AI will answer

AI provides answers but the answers might be wrong, useless or confusing. AI “answers” are now the first thing you see on Google searches. I was trying to find how to turn off a setting on my camera and made the mistake of asking Google. I got an AI answer but it was completely useless. Later I found a YouTube video and an Austrian photographer explained how to change the settings for the electronic viewfinder and what each one did. The human won this round.

In spite of the shortcomings, I decided to add an AI widget to this website. it is titled “ASK” and will appear at the top of the right sidebar. If you are viewing this post on a mobile device I assume you’ll need to scroll way down the page.As an experiment I asked it about the Green Center and it created this reply which contained some information that I forgot that I had posted. Computers are really good at indexing information whereas my biological links come and go. Just today I got stuck on a NYT crossword puzzle because I couldn’t remember one of Santa’s reindeer……..VIXEN!

The Green Center, mentioned in the provided blog posts, is a recycling center that accepts various donations, including artwork, household items, books, and clothing. The center acts as a hub for repurposing items, giving them a new lease on life by adopting them out to patrons. Stories behind the donations add depth and meaning to the objects, such as a crocheted clown becoming part of a display at the Antrim House rehab center, or a carved Santa Claus created by an artist friend finding a new home after a couple downsized.
In addition to accepting donations, the Green Center seems to have a focus on art and unique items, as seen in the sculptures mentioned in the posts. These artworks range from reproductions of classic pieces like Venus de Milo and David to more whimsical creations like a pink elephant sculpture. The center functions not only as a recycling facility but also as an art gallery, showcasing a diverse range of sculptures, paintings, and other creative works that are available for adoption by patrons.

Speaking of AI, some artist have created some truly amazing work. Check out the work of David Szauder.

I’m on Bluesky

I left Twitter after Elon Musk took over. I signed up for several social media sites including Bluesky. However most of the news organizations and journalist remained on the Twitter platform…. until now. Suddenly there was an exodus to Bluesky. Welcome, look for me,

Can we talk?

I have removed AdSense advertising from my site. The ads were annoying and cluttered up the page. However it does cost money (and time) to publish this website. If you enjoy the content, why not become a supporter? Think of it as buying me a “virtual cup of coffee”. FYI the average cost of a cup of coffee in 2024 is $3.08
