New Ipswich Historical Society
It was a cold rainy evening when we met for our last meeting of 2024 in the unheated confines of the New Ipswich Historical Society building. NIHS President John Rosenfelder brought along a most welcome space heater.
It was a busy 2024 as outlined in the President’s Letter

We were able to meet as a board once a month, and additionally for a planning meeting. We were able to open our building every second and fourth Saturdays throughout the summer/fall season. We welcomed quite a few visitors, some out-of-towners, some residents who had not visited for years, and some new visitors.
Peggy Lee has done a great job recording minutes, checking mail, and scheduling guest speakers and writing publicity.
Pat Lage has ably kept up with non-profit legalities, insurance, electric bills, and receiving donations.
John Poltrack has maintained the NIHS newsletter, publishing constant interesting articles and photos.
We will miss Mitch Gluck, who asked for temporary leave, to work on school budget work. Mitch has pushed hard for us to be more professional and plan for the future.
Sharon Rosenfelder has been a good fill in minutes taker and letter editor.
This year thanks to Emari Traffie our website was revamped. We hope now to be able to add much more content. She has also designed and had made the popular NIHS tee-shirts.
We welcome Jack Klein as a new board member.

I visited the Green Center (our recycling center) to photograph some of the featured items that were available for adoption on Saturday. I posted these on my substack page – Improves with Age. These are the full resolution version of the featured items.

I’m on Bluesky
I left Twitter after Elon Musk took over. I signed up for several social media sites including Bluesky. However most of the news organizations and journalist remained on the Twitter platform…. until now. Suddenly there was an exodus to Bluesky. Welcome, look for me,
Can we talk?
I have removed AdSense advertising from my site. The ads were annoying and cluttered up the page. However it does cost money (and time) to publish this website. If you enjoy the content, why not become a supporter? Think of it as buying me a “virtual cup of coffee”. FYI the average cost of a cup of coffee in 2024 is $3.08
