Better late than never

I am really late in getting this “weekly” published before it becomes a “monthly”. This group of photos covers Week 35 in 2024 from August 26th to September 1st.

First on the agenda was my substack post for a collection of Dick Simon photographs that I found at the Green Center. Some have been given away and some I hope will be seen by a greater audience. I have provided a link to the photographers website in my substack posting.

Fairy Houses

I visited Regina Stirnweiss a plant enthusiast to give her a cutting of my night-blooming cereus. We had a nice visit and she showed me her latest Fairy House creations. They are wonderful. Regina sells them to a dealer in New Canaan, CT.

Yellow Canna

My late sister Pat loved yellow flowers. I brought back a canna tuber from her garden in Texas when we settled her estate. It bloomed the last day of August.

Pancakes at Smith’s Blueberry Farm

Procession for John Feldhousen

Firefighters from New Ipswich and surrounding towns held a Funeral Procession for Captain James Feldhusen who succumbed to cancer.

Chordify – Juanita

I’ve been having some fun playing guitar using the app Chordify. It is a clever piece of software that analyzes YouTube music videos and produces a running display of the chord changes. I cannot read music and rely on song sheets with chord notations. The problem with these is that the chord changes are usually in the wrong location. I can usually “hear” where the change is supposed to occur but it is nice to get a visual cue, especially on instrumental tunes.

My selection for this week is “Juanita” a Gram Parson and Chris Hillman song that was featured on the Flying Burritos album “Guilded Palace of Sin”. It is so much fun to sing, so get out your guitar or uke and play along.

I have removed AdSense advertising from my site. The ads were annoying and cluttered up the page. Also it only netted me a few pennies at day. However I have retained my affiliate sponsors and donations are always welcome. It does cost money to run this website. Thank you for your support.
