The Daily Picture Theme for June 29, 2024 is #Grate. I couldn’t find a photo of anyone grating cheese so I settled on a photo of my Mom’s fireplace at Christmas (fireplace grate).
Daily Journal
“Keeping a journal of what’s going on in your life is a good way to help you distill what’s important and what’s not.”– Martina Navratilova
Cool and cloudy day, good one for some indoor projects, After Hip-Hop class I headed over the green center.
Look what I saw at the Green Center
When I was a full time volunteer at the Green Center, I used to post photos and commentaries about some of the unique items that were donated for recycling. My posts were labeled Look What I Saw at the Green Center. I no longer volunteer at the center but I’m a proud alumni so I visit when it is open for business. I’ve been discliplined about not bringing things home but today I was on a mission. I was “shopping” for a blender for my son and naturally there were many. I also wanted some ceramic vases to use for screwdrivers. I don’t know how many times I look for a philips screwdrive and find the straight slotted one and vice versa, I thought I could just dump them into a vase and have them in a convenient place.
I wasn’t going to get anything elsebut then I saw an ultraviolet CFL. I can’t resist ultraviolet light sources. I still remember in school when they would usher us all into a dark room and check our hair with a UV light. If you had head lice they would fluoresce a bluish white color. As a teenager I had a several blacklights (UV) long before the 1960s craze, I even have a collection of minerals which flouresce. I don’t have the guts to check on scorpions though. I also found a yellow CFL which is a nice color companion to the bluish blacklight.
Soup and donuts
When I went to pick up frozen soup from Mother Hubbard’s Ladle I saw a cloud of blue smoke and the screech of tires. Her neighbor was driving in circles in the driveway, I assume this was his idea of fun but it must be hard on the tires. Some things I will never understand.
