This is the daily journal entry for the 17th day of June in 2024. The Daily Picture Theme is #Worn. Featured photo is a well-worn sofa that I spotted on the side of the road. It was free for the taking but disappeared before I could make arrangements to get it.

Warming Up

Hot weather has been predicted for the rest of the week. It was comfortable this morning but quickly warmed up. I took some photos at our Tai Chi class. David Rosen is looking for new students. Plant Propagation

My gardening goal for 2024 is to have more flowers and less lawn. One cheap way to do that is by plant propagation. It is easy to root Bee Balm and Stonecrop but today I’m attempting to root cuttings from Rosa rugosa. I’ve successfully transplanted parts of it but it is quite a chore. It sends out runners that are tenacious. This is my favorite rose. It reminds me of the ocean, has a wonderful fragrance and attracts flower spiders which are great fun to see.

If you look carefully at the upper flower you can see that a flower spider (Misumena vatia) has captured a small wasp.

Twelve Years Ago – June 17, 2012 (Sunday)

Twelve years ago we visited Ginny’s family on Vancouver Island. These photos were taken in Victoria as we attended a performance of the Kwhlii Gibaykw Dancers in Victoria. Included are several photos taken within walking distance of the venue.
