"Gonna be a long Monday
Sittin' all alone on a mountain
By a river that has no end
Gonna be a long Monday
Stuck like the tick of a clock
That's come unwound again"

- John Prine

Gonna be a long Monday

Cool and beautiful blue sky this morning, the quintessential New Hampshire spring day. We did Tai Chi on the common this morning admidst many clover blossoms. A stiff breeze made it seem cooler but kept away the bugs. I was dismayed not to see a single honeybee on any of those clover blossoms. It wasn’t that way when I was a kid. I remember stepping on a bee at least a few times in my barefeet.

Plastic Medicare Card

“Hello Mr. John, this is [Mumble] from Phoenix Health”, have you received your new plastic medicare card yet?” Which countries reverse the order of the surname? I think India and China are two, the callers always call me “Mr. John” instead of the honorific “Your Awesomeness”. Anyway I told them that I had received my new plastic card and they hung up. I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to provide them with my bank routing number and passwords on my bank account. Maybe they will call back. If you are over 65 I bet they’ll give you a call. In nature the predators always target the very young and the old and feeble.

Daily Photos

The Sweet William are beginning to flower and on cue the butterflies have been fluttering around. I also clicked a photo of a flowering perennial that I must have planted and forgot about, I’m happy I didn’t put it up as weed. We have a restaurant again. El taco Lalo Mexican Restaurant had a “soft” opening today. It was busy with take-out orders. They were working out the kinks when I was there and my order wasn’t quite right but I am just pleased to have a nearby place to go for lunch or takeout.

Six Years Ago – June 10, 2018 (Sunday)

A trip to Portsmouth, NH to visit the African Burying Ground Memorial. Also a photo of folks participating in Civil Rights Sunday on the street corner. Finally a photo of an abandoned weapons storage area which was part of Pease Airport. That has been converted to the Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge. I walked on several of the trails but didn’t see much wildllife. This is probably why the only photo I have is one of the gates which struck me as being rather foreboding especially when rendered in Black and White.
