This is the daily journal entry for the 1st day of June in 2024. The Daily Picture Theme is . The featured photo was taken on Marathon Monday in 2012. There is a story to go with it.

“There is, of course, always personal satisfaction of writing down one’s own experiences so they may be saved, caught and pinned under glass, hoarded against the winter of forgetfullness.”

— Anne Morrow Lindbergh

There is a story behind the featured photo of this posting. We were in Boston on April 16, 2012 to watch our daughter run in the Boston Marathon. She did great and we had wonderful day. When we we were going on the subway back to Aleswife Station, I noticed that the train platform was a good study in leading lines. I decided to take a photo. At the time (2012) I was using an Olympus E-3 DSLR, not exactly a small camera. Just as I took the photo a Transit worker approached me. He told me I was not allowed to take photos. I’ve been to this rodeo before so I pointed out that I didn’t see any signs prohibiting photography. Knowing myself I probably explained about leading lines and photo composition. I was not the diplomatic personage that I am today. Since the photos were already captured, I felt a bit of smugness in my subterfuge.

I wonder if he thought I was photographing the place for a possible terrorist attack. If I was I would have used one of those bowtie cameras you see in spy movies. Sadly one year later (2013) there was the Boston Marathon bombing. Such are the times we live in.

Morning activities

Started the day with Saturday morning Hip-Hop class, a good way to get moving. After that I made a quick stop to the Green Center to say hello to Elaine and the team. Spoke to Boone about his recent MOHS surgery, we share having nose jobs in 2024, Later I made a quick stop to the New Ipswich History Museum to show Scott my Dad’s WWII patches. He offered to do some research for me.

Goodbye old couch

For only $20 I was able to get rid of my old miserable sagging couch. However I regret not inspecting it. There probably were a couple of remotes and cat toys in the creases. Maybe some money too.

Photos

The couch deserved a tribute photo, also our evening Chipmunk posed for a few photos.
