The Daily Picture Theme for May 18th 2024 is #Chain. A number of photos came to mind for this theme. For example tire chains, chain saws, key chains, chain link fence and chain letters.

Daily Journal – 18 May 2024 (Saturday)

“The very act of writing it down made her realize how easy it would be to forget, how important it would be from now on to put everything, everything, down on paper.”

— Donna Tartt

It was in the mid 50s this morning but I was determined to start wearing shorts from now on. I was quite comfortable in Hip-Hop class but I still can’t “twerk”. After that workout I attended the grand opening of the outdoor physical rehabilitation area at Monadnock Community Hospital. I didn’t break anything in the class but I need to know what options I have. I had some yogurt and checked out the SWAG (sunglasses and water bottles). I did talk to the staff and took photos of the staff.

Maybe it is sign of aging, but I often find myself awake in the middle of the night. Thankfully last night I was able to fall back asleep. That triggered an especially vivid dream. I can’t remember the exact details but it involved a spirited discussion of photography. I suppose this is what happens when you spend endless hours sorting through photographs. As it turned out the dream was precognitive, it was a great day for photography. The 29th annual Children And The Arts Festival took place in Peterborough, NH. I was there just in time for the parade, but there were other photo opportunities. The theme was “Birds of a Feather” and apparently there were some owls and raptors. I left before seeing them when it started to rain. I had a bit of a walk back to my car.

I recorded some videos of traditional music from the acoustic group The Moonbellies. Also some from The FolkSoul Band who play at all these Peterborough events (and when Obama came to town). It will be some time till I post the videos but here are some photos from today’s festivities.

On This Date

We are going way back to 2009 on this May 18th. We had a attended a destination wedding in Bimini and flew back to Fort Lauderdale for an overnight. It was a nice area but we stayed in a run down motel for the night. It was a bit smelly and had a noisy air conditioner. All was well when I woke and took a walk across the street to see the sunrise on a lovely beach.
