December 1, 2023 (Friday)
TGIF, the end of the week and the start of the last month of the year. Today is soup pickup at Mother Hubbard’s Ladle so Carl and I drove over to stock up. I had the Thai Chicken Noodle for lunch and Potato Leek for dinner. Deliicious
Creamy Potato~Leek: Potatoes and Leeks simmered in a vegetable broth with cream and topped with Frizzled Leeks and Sage. Thai Chicken Noodle: Chicken Noodle soup with a Thai inspired blend of chicken broth infused with ginger, star anise, lime zest, garlic, sesame oil, tamari, cilantro and coconut milk over Pad Thai Noodles (GF).
Out Of The Blue
Since the Potato Leek soup was cream based I realized I needed to stir it as I heated it for dinner. Just before dinner OUT OF THE BLUE I received a package with a beautiful wooden spoon carved by Paul Willis from his firewood pile. Thank you Paul.
Santa Frank
I also received my first Christmas Card of the season from Frank Chupko my Navy Roommate. Frank’s cards are always a treat and usually feature photos taken in Olongapo.
Smithville Reservoir
It was fairly mild today so I took a walk by Smithville Reservoir as I walked along Binney Road. Of note was a pine tree that was gnawed by beavers. I was surprised by that choice. Usually they choose other “milder” species.

Threshold Day
It finally happened! I reached the payoff threshold of $100 for the advertising on this webpage. It took me 1705 days to get here. That is an average earning of 6 cents a day. Not exactly the bonanza I expected. I’m thinking dropping advertising and depend upon the “kindness of strangers” to click on my Ko-Fi or PayPal link. One or two donations will certainly be better than 6 cents a day.

I’m behind on posting these themes on this website, but most are on my Improves With Age Substack newsletter.
