November 18, 2023 (Saturday)

The warm spell came to an end this morning. It was 46 degrees with a light rain in the morning but the temperature started dropping throughout the day, even as the sun broke through. I managed to warm up a bit with my second hip-hop class. It is going to take some time to master these moves and steps.

Look what I saw at the Green Center

I was pleased to find some hanging plant baskets at the Green Center. Last summer I potted up flowers to attract hummingbirds instead of relying on the feeders. The sugar mixture in the feeders quickly spoils in the full sun and a basket of flowers is more attractive. I was most successful potting up the Cuphea plant. It was a big hit all summer and throughout the fall till the hummingbirds left.

The New Ipswich Historical Society held a loosely-moderated discussion group of Appleton Academy alumni. They reminisced about their school days and told some great stories. Kudos to Carl Toko for contacting his fellow alumni and Peggy Lee for moderating the discussion. The event was recorded and will eventually be available on our soon to be released website (no link yet).

Daily Picture Theme – Busy

I participate in a daily photo challenge on the social media site Spoutible. Everyday there is a different subject announced as a Daily Picture Theme. I select an appropriate  photo from my collection to share. I have been sharing these exclusively on Improves With Age, my Substack newsletter. However since I have untaken the task of writing daily entries, I decided to introduce a daily picture theme photo to this website.

The theme listed for November 18, 2023 is BUSY. I think of two creatures as being “busy”, bees and beavers.
