Shooting with film

I started being serious about taking photos when I was about 12. I used lawn mowing earnings to get myself an East German Praktica SLR in the early 1960s. My eyes were better then, I could use the split circle manual focus and didn’t mind manually setting shutter speed and aperture. Film was limiting factor since 35mm film came in 24 or 36 exposure rolls. I ruined many a roll trying to stretch out one more shot or forgetting which size roll I had loaded into the camera. Still I managed to amass quite a number of photos. I managed to digitize a number of the photos and I intend to share some of those photos on this website. I’ll start with some photos taken on the West Coast in the early 1970s when I was in the Navy.

I think these were taken in 1971 when I drove from Imperial Beach, California up the Pacific Highway to Washington State. Most if not all of these were taken in Oregon,
