We need a coffee shop
Do you know what we need in New Ipswich? We need a coffee shop. A place that serves breakfast and lunch. A place where you can sit down with a friend and have a cup of coffee with conversation. We had this in the past. Remember Irena’s, Nennies Five Star Restaurant? Do you remember the one that came after that, it was named for a Coriander spice ? Do you remember Turnpike Crossing? I miss them. They all occupied a space at the NeWest mall, a space that remains empty.
The Root (What a coffee shop should be)
I was wondering what a coffee shop should look like. In Temple I stopped at The Root , a farm stand and cafe on Route 101 in Temple, NH. It is open for breakfast and lunch. I had a cup of coffee and a nice bowl of soup.
The Building is a converted barn and has a nice rustic vibe. There are tables for couples, groups, even a small ones for children.
Hours
Thursday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Friday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Saturday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
They do have some evening events, poetry readings and music. It would be a nice venue for that.

Best thing that has happened to this region in my opinion. I agree that something even remotely like this in New Ipswich is a dire need. There’s always word that someone wants to open something. I even have given it a shot but didn’t have the funding at the time.
