Opening Day – April 29, 2022
Amazing Flower Farm is located on 202 Poor Farm Road in New Ipswich, NH. They will opening for the season on April 29, 2022 from 10:00 – 17:00.
However before opening day, they needed to do a replacement of the plastic sheeting on the retail greenhouse.
Weather Report – No Wind
Owner Ara Lynn chose Sunday morning, April 24, 2022 for the re-wrapping because winds were predicted to be less than 4 MPH. This is an important consideration when dealing with the largest plastic sheet I have ever seen. There are two layers to add. Air is pumpled between them to add some rigidity and help shed the winter snows.
The first step was setting the roll of film near the peak of the greenhouse, The backhoe was the tool for this task.
Just Like Making a Bed
Imagine spreading a HUGE sheet over a mattress and lining up the sides. It was the same process with the greenhouse.
Button It Up
The two layers of plastic are held in place with “wiggle wire”, a springy steel wire that fits in tracks near the base of the green house.
Volunteers
This was not a task that Ara Lynn and Paul Bush could accomplish by themselves. Ara gave a shout out for volunteers and people showed up to help. Community spirit is alive and well in New Ipswich.
