I’ve been spending my days staying at home and going for solitary walks by a nearby reservoir. I’m trying to do my part to mitigate the effects of the Coronavirus outbreak. I have the advantage of living in a rural community with lots of natural beauty.
I’ve turned to my photography to ground myself in the middle of a pandemic. If I’m not taking photos I’m revisiting my collections. Today I came across some photos of Combers Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The beach was incredibly beautiful and almost completely deserted. These photos were taken on July 11, 2017.
It was accessible via a short path through a wooded area.
I thought I was alone on the beach until I saw an interesting sight. A woman, dressed in a wedding gown was standing on the beach behind a camera on a tripod. This piqued my curiosity.
I spotted the woman’s husband as I approached. He was wearing a suit. The couple were celebrating their first wedding anniversary and they had a plan. They were scouting for a location for an anniversary photo. They had a framed wedding photo with them and they were going to take a photo of themselves holding the photo. Then in subsequent years holding that photo. After 25 years or so it would be quite interesting. They agreed to pose for me. I wish them well.
